Hype Williams
- Harold Williams, known commonly as 'Hype Williams' which developed from his graffiti work in which he would tag all of his work with 'HYPE.'
- Born in Queens NY.
- Williams has worked with some of the worlds most famous artists such as 2pac, Notorious B.I.G, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Beyonce.
- He's received several awards for his work including a billboard award for best director in 1996.
- One style Williams is famous for is using fish eye lenses to distort the image.
- Both of these videos contain bright colours throughout making them both look cartoon and psychedelic. Both videos were released in the late 90's when bright colours were all the rage.
- Another style commonly use by Williams is making the picture in a cinematic style with black border around the edges, giving the feel that the video isn't a music video but a short film.
- He also uses split screen, commonly the artist is in the center and then there are moving images above and below that tie into the background of where there the artist is. For example the Ne-Yo video he is singing in a ski lodge and above and below him the images are of snowy mountains, and the Beyonce video she is singing in a pink background and the above and below images are of a contrasting pink material.
